The Advice Centre is provided for students by the Union and is staffed by professional advisers to provide information, advice and representation on any student welfare matter.

Academic Issues

Information and advice about University Regulations such as extenuating circumstances, fitness for practice and disciplinary matters such as accusations of cheating and plagiarism.

 

Money Matters

Information about loans, grants, hardship funds, budgeting, debts, benefits and lots more.

 

Housing Advice

Information and advice about finding somewhere to live, landlord problems, repairs, deposits, etc.

 

Advice for International Students

Information about budgeting for life in the UK, basic immigration procedures and working in the UK.

 

Advice for Nursing Students

Information about bursaries, funding, placements and much more.
 

 

We can also help with legal and consumer matters, employment problems, health and personal issues, local information, safety advice and much much more.

•  We guarantee absolute confidentiality to all our clients and will not disclose your personal details or your query with anyone else without your permission.

•  We will represent your interests to the University when you need us to and because we’re part of the Union we can do this with total independence. This goes for any other outside organisation too.

•  We make no charge for any of the services we offer. This is because we receive our funding from the Students' Union who have placed student welfare advice as one of its highest priorities.

•  We welcome enquiries from any Birmingham City University student irrespective of your gender, race, country of origin, sexuality, age, disability or religion.
