Constitution

The Constitution of Birmingham City Students’ Union governs absolutely everything that the Union can and cannot do. From our finances, to the number of Executive Officers, to listening to the student body on a range of political, social and educational issues, the constitution tells the Executive and staff how to run the Union.

The Constitution is presented in three parts. The Memorandum of Association tells us what we can do legally in terms of our company status, the Articles of Association outlines how we should do it.  The Bylaws are our detailed procedures that ensure the Union runs properly.

Our various democratic bodies can also pass Policies.  These declare the Union's opinions on a wide range of matters and describe the actions the Union should take on them.
