Sports Teams

Enjoy playing sport either for fun, fitness or competitively? Well Birmingham City Students' Union offers it all. We offer a wide range of sporting activities for everyone to participate in...

Not only do we offer recreational and fun sport, but for the budding David Beckham's, Kelly Holmes', Freddie Flintoft's and Tanni Grey-Thompson’s we also offer competitive sport at the highest level through BUCS, the British University and Colleges Sport

So you want to get involved?

To become a member of a sports team you will need to buy a membership to the specific team and a sports card that covers you for insurance. A sports card will cost £6 and the membership costs vary from team to team. These can be bought from any sport club at Freshers and Re-Freshers Fayre, any Students’ Union reception or in the Activities and Resource Centre (ARC) at City North Campus.

Get your Sports Card

Before signing up to any sports teams, it is essential to purchase a Sports Card. The Sports Card covers Club members for insurance to compete and train with sports teams as a member of the Students’ Union. The cost of the card also contributes to the support clubs receive throughout the year from the Union, which includes staff support in the Activities & Resource Centre, travel costs for clubs to games, affiliation to national sporting organisations and leagues, the annual Sports Awards and much more. Card-holders also benefit from a reduced ticket-price to the Sports Awards.
