Missed the other meetings?

If you missed the first meeting but still want to get involved, no worries! The Union is still recruiting Councillors so email Kat Higgs at union.comms@bcu.ac.uk to find out more, or simply come along to the next meeting.

Want to run the Students’ Union?

Student Council is at the heart of the Union. It is where students from across the University come together and tell the Union what they want it to be doing. Whether it's an issue you want the Union to campaign on or a product you want us to stock in our shops or a question you have about what the Union is doing to support sports teams, Council is the place to have your voice heard.

What is Student Council?

Student Council is a forum for students from all faculties and backgrounds to get together and set the direction of the Union. Council meetings take place six times a year, twice each term. At the meetings members of Student Council get to vote on decisions the Union needs to make. They also get to hold the Executive Officers to account, making sure they are doing what they are supposed to be doing.

How do I get involved?

Represent like minded students, play an active role in your Students’ Union, meet new people, have fun, enhance your CV and increase your employability... sitting on Student Council is a great way to spend a few hours each term.

We recruit 'Councillors' - students who are committed to regularly attending Council - at the start of the year. You can see the positions we try and fill by clicking on the 'Who's on Student Council' button. However, any student can come along to Council meetings to find out what's going on, and occasionally we need to replace or recruit Councillors throughout the year. If you are interested in attending Council or becoming a Councillor, please email Kat Higgs at union.comms@bcu.ac.uk or simply turn up to the next meeting!
