What is the Students’ Union?

Students’ Union is essentially the group of all students studying at Birmingham City University. It “…exists to act on our members’ voices and cultivate vibrant and united communities for better student life”

The aim of the Students’ Union is to create and promote the best possible experience for all Birmingham City University students, by providing a wide range of services and facilities. Students from our partner institutions are also very welcome to use the facilities and services provided by the Union.

As a Birmingham City University student you are automatically a member of the Students’ Union, and as such you can have a say on how it should be run.

How the Students’ Union is run?

A group of Executive Officers elected by students for a year are responsible for the day to day running of the Union and developing strategy. Management and Staff are employed by the Union to assist their work.

The highest decision making body is the Annual General Meeting to which all students are invited and it usually takes place around March each year.

The Student Council is a group of 69 students elected from their Faculties to represent their fellow students’ interests by meeting regularly to discuss student issues and hold the Exec team to account.
